As the year draws to a close, I’ve been reflecting on what success truly meant for me in 2024. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t about flashy milestones, massive revenue goals, or anything you’d see in a highlight reel. Instead, success this year was deeply personal, intentional, and aligned with what I want most in both my life and business.
Looking back, I realized that some of my proudest accomplishments were the ones that won’t make headlines but brought me closer to the kind of life I’ve been building intentionally for years.
Here’s what success looked like for me in 2024:
Balancing Family and Business
One of the biggest transitions this year was stepping up at home when my husband returned to work. Suddenly, I found myself managing the chaos of getting three kids out the door (on time!) to two different schools every morning. Was it always smooth? No. But was it worth it? Absolutely.
This shift reminded me of why I built my business the way I did – to have the flexibility to show up for my family when they need me. From morning school drop-offs to supporting my kids’ after-school activities and squeezing in carpool duty, these moments defined success for me this year.
Big Milestones in My Creative and Volunteer Work
Publishing not one, but two books this year was a dream come true. Writing and publishing is something I love, but it’s also a deeply personal process that doesn’t happen overnight. Seeing these books out in the world was a major highlight.
In my volunteer life, I reached a milestone I’ve been working toward for over a decade. Being elected to a role I’ve dreamed about was a huge personal accomplishment, and stepping into that position has already been incredibly rewarding.
Creating Memories That Matter
One of the biggest privileges of building a business that works for me is having the time to create meaningful memories with my family. This summer, I spent three weeks at my mountain cabin with my daughter – just the two of us. It was a chance to slow down, soak in the beauty of Colorado, and connect in a way that our busy lives don’t always allow.
And, of course, there was the Eras Tour! I went to Taylor Swift’s final show with my daughter (a major Swiftie), my sister, and my cousin. It was one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences that we’ll talk about for years to come.
Un-Scaling My Business for Simplicity and Joy
This year marked the end of a two-year un-scaling process for my business. It was a deliberate shift to create a business that:
- Is simple and aligned with how I want to work
- Pays me what I need while keeping school hours
- Allows me to take a week off every month
- Runs without the stress I’d been feeling before
I’ve been practicing what I preach: building a business that feels good to you. My business may no longer be a million-dollar one, but it’s a multi-six-figure business that supports my life exactly the way I want. I have nothing to prove, and that feels like freedom.
Supporting My Clients and Building New Connections
This year, I watched my clients achieve incredible wins: hitting big revenue goals, signing dream clients, recovering from burnout, and building businesses they love. Their success is a constant source of inspiration for me, and it feels like a true privilege to support them. Being part of their journey (and cheering them on along the way!) is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
I also built new relationships with amazing business owners, especially through platforms like Threads, where authenticity and connection feel more natural. And with my marketing agency team, we developed a simple, repeatable content system that helps our clients stay consistent without the overwhelm.
Redefining Success
This year didn’t look “big” from the outside. But every decision I made brought me closer to living the kind of life and running the kind of business that feels right for me. To me, that’s success.
